{{Feats
| Synonyms = Luciferian, Witch, Albigensian, Waldensian, Dulcinian, Excommunicated
| Prowess? = No
| Archetype? = Yes
| Official? = Yes
| Description =

You have been given a choice. Either repent or burn. You chose the former.

A common misconception is that the inquisition's task was to burn heretics, in fact the inquisition consistently spared any heretics who agreed to confess and repent, only those who refused to repent (or even worse, who retracted) had to be burned to purify their souls. Burning at the stake was an act of mercy because fire was believed to purify the soul and send heretics to heaven.

Your character has believed or was forced to follow a heretic cult. Most heresies were started by catholic priests or monks who had a particular vision of the faith, that was later on ruled as heretic by the church. (the entire Franciscan order for example was ruled as a heresy before being absolved shortly thereafter)
But the darkest heresies are secret organisations designed to trick the weak into serving the legions of hell.

Some of your brethren decided to live their faith until the end and you saw them burn, the others like you where spared.
Perhaps you even lead the inquisition to discover the cult when you realised it's true purpose.

Alternatively, you may have committed a severe crime against god and the church excommunicated you. You have decided to make penance.

Your repentance may or may not be sincere, depending if you took the Feat Lost Faith.
Either way, the inquisition have mandated you to purge your sins by helping them for a given period of time. Part of your sentence is to use your knowledge about heresies to turn it against them.

As a Repented Heretic, the character gains the Feat Knowledge (heresy).

If his background justifies it, he also gains the ⭐ Faith Feat. (or potentially ⛧ Dark Faith if he has Handicap (lost faith))

Additionally, he gains one Feat of his choice in this list :
*Outlaw Wisdom
*Trickster
*Fanatic
*Charismatic (you were a heretic leader)
*Stealth
*Reputation
*Well Connected (some former members of your cult are high ranked)
*Survival
*Manipulative
*Foreigner
*Knowledge (cryptography)
*Background
*Magic Tricks
*Eternal Youth (a pact?) (even if the character doesn't meet the prerequisites)
*Curse (witchcraft ?) (even if the character doesn't meet the prerequisites)
*Witchcraft (even if the character doesn't meet the prerequisites)
*Necromancy (even if the character doesn't meet the prerequisites)
*Handicap (lost faith) (your soul is still tainted by heresy)
*Handicap (insane) (the things you saw... the things you did !)

Unless his background justifies it, the character cannot take the Combat, Strong or True Strike Feats.

Note that not all repented heretics have this feat and the character may de facto have been a member of a cult without having it.

Advices on creating Feats :

A Feat is a massive advantage granted to the finest of the finest after a life of training. Most normal people don't have Feats at all.
A person with the Agile Feat, is qualified to be in the Olympics (not win, but at least participate)
A person with the Rich Feat is the richest man in his city.
Etc..

While creating a Feat, make sure with your Game Master that there is no other Feat that would be Synonym (e.g. would have the same final game effect). If yes, add it as a Synonym rather than create a new Feat.

For example, Courage is a synonym of Fanatism, not because they are the same concept, but because they have a similar in game effect.

And finally, make sure that the Feat is useful but not too useful, this depends on the scenarios and campaign you're playing.

Advices on creating Archetypes :

A typical archetype is either :
One Feat imposed and two to be chosen in a list
or
A disadvantage that grants two feats freely chosen.

The goal of an Archetype is to guide a new player on how to create a very cool and coherent character.

Advices on creating Prowesses :

A Prowess can only be used once per scenario and allows the character to do a special action.

A Prowess is a type of non-visual spell. It is possible only if there is an explanation to the limit of the scientifically plausible and it is up to the player to justify it with the game master before using his prowess.

For example, it is humanly impossible to heal someone who has been decapitated, but it is not impossible to treat someone who's throat have been slit. It is very difficult, very rare, but scientifically plausible.

Unlike normal Feats, a character can acquire the same Prowess several times.
Whether through devout prayer and unwavering service to God, through complex alchemical processes hidden in secret manuscripts, or through a dark pact with the Devil, some few men and women have been granted a portion of Eternal Youth.

In the Middle Ages, the average lifespan was short: many died in childhood, and even those who survived rarely lived past forty or fifty years. Yet the rare figure who carried Eternal Youth might walk among men for decades longer, their face unwrinkled, their body unbent by age, appearing forever in the strength of their youth even as their years stretched far beyond their peers.

Every time this Prowess is used, the lifespan of the character is extended by several weeks, though this has no direct combat or strategic impact. Its effect is primarily cosmetic, allowing characters to remain vigorous and youthful long after age should have taken its toll.
To sound the Trumpets of Ruin is to summon not the justice of Heaven, but the laughter of Hell. Where the Apocalypse is scourge and judgment, the Trumpets are mockery and desecration — calamities loosed not for righteousness, but for cruelty.

The visions of John spoke of angels who sounded their horns and heralded woe upon the world; but when the Trumpets of Ruin are called upon, it is the abyss itself that answers. | Official? = Yes
| Description =

To speak of the Apocalypse is to speak of God’s scourge upon the earth, as in the days of Noah, of Sodom, and of Pharaoh. As the trumpets of the Apocalypse sounded in the Revelation of John, so too does this Prowess herald calamities that shake kingdoms and humble men. When it is called upon, creation itself trembles with signs of judgment.

When you use this Feat, roll a die 6.

On a result of 1–4, nothing happens, and the Prowess is used and cannot be used a second time during this scenario. No natural disaster was bound to happen at this time.

On a result of 5–6, however, a great calamity is unleashed at the discretion of the Game Master, as if heaven itself had opened its hand in wrath.

Such calamities may take the form of:

* Earthquakes splitting the earth beneath towers and cathedrals, as in the days of Korah’s rebellion.
* Floods like unto the waters of the Deluge, drowning streets and valleys.
* Lightning storms consuming steeples and strongholds, recalling the fire upon Sodom.
* Landslides or avalanches swallowing villages as if the mountains themselves cried out.
* Great fires devouring districts, like the burning of Babylon.
* Plagues spreading swiftly, as in the curses upon Egypt.
* Hailstorms mixed with thunder, shattering crops and roofs, as when the trumpets were sounded.
* Swarms of locusts blotting out the sky, devouring fields and gardens, echoing the plagues upon Pharaoh.
* Eclipse falling unnaturally over the land, sowing dread and confusion, as in Egypt and at the crucifixion.
* Bloodbath battles descending into mindless bloodshed, followed by pillage and chaos, where even friends may turn upon one another, as foretold when brother shall rise against brother.

The effect is catastrophic: within the scale of a city, buildings collapse, lives are lost, and devastation strikes all in its path. Yet all the players, and any characters or buildings they choose, are miraculously spared. They cannot, however, direct the calamity toward specific buildings or characters with certainty; those chosen to perish are decided by the hand of fate and not by the player.

It is unclear whether the usage of this Feat truly brought the disaster forth, or whether the calamity was destined to occur at that very moment regardless.
