Special: Archetype

Knight Hospitaller is an Archetype, it is a special kind of Feat. A character can only have one Archetype in total. Apart from that, Archetypes are like normal Feats and may be taken at character creation or on any level up. On your sheet, mark Knight Hospitaller as one of your Feats and add all Feats gained separately.

Description

The Knights Hospitaller were established following the First Crusade to protect and treat Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land. They were recognizable by their black or red surcoat with a white cross. An elite and powerful fighting order of well trained knights wearing heavy mail or plate armour and armed with a lance, they were feared on many battlefields of the Middle Ages.

They are monastic order that specialises in cavalry and combat, they also established hospitals to treat their wounded and harbour pilgrims.

For centuries they fought alongside their sister order, the Knight Templars.

When in 1312, the Templar order was dissolved, most of their assets and members joined the Hospitaller order.

Hailing from Rhodes, they have the finest doctors and fighters of all Christendom.

As a knight Hospitaller, the character gains the Feat Combat (battle) or Knowledge (medicine).

If his background justifies it, he also gains the ⭐ Faith Feat.

Additionally, he gains one Feat of his choice in this list :

If the character chooses the Feat Leper, he only gains one additional Feat of his choice outside this list or two Feats of his choice inside this list. This is an exception to the rule, normally a character is not able to have two archetypes.

Note that not all knights of st. John have this feat and the character may de facto be a member of this order without having it.
